Volunteer Instructions

SCORE KEEPER VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTIONS:

The SCORE KEEPER processes all event results. Each DAL meet is scored in four separate divisions: Frosh Soph Girls, Varsity Girls, Frosh Soph Boys, and Varsity Boys.

The score keeper receives completed result sheets from the finish line as well as each field event. Here are examples of the event sheets:

Event Scoring:

For all events except the relays, scoring is as follows:

1st place = 5 points; 2nd place = 3 points; 3rd place = 1 point.

For relay events, scoring is as follows:

1st place = 5 points; 2nd place = 0 points.

In DAL regular season league meets where two or more teams are competing, the teams score against each other in head to head match ups. For instance, if Campolindo, Dublin and Miramonte compete at the same meet, the score keeper would score three different match ups: Campolindo vs. Dublin; Campolindo vs. Miramonte; Dublin vs. Miramonte. Therefore, three master score sheets would be used for each division.

When reading the score sheet, the score keeper determines placing based on the particular match up being scored. Competitors from the other schools are ignored. For example, if the result sheet indicates the following placing in the 100m, the match up between Campolindo and Miramonte would have a Campolindo athlete earning 5 points (1st place), while the Miramonte athletes would earn 4 points (2nd & 3rd place):

Varsity Girls' 100m Results

1. Thompson - DUBLIN
2. Gresley - CAMPOLINDO (1st place vs. Miramonte)
3. Pataki - DUBLIN
4. Avery - MIRAMONTE (2nd place vs. Campolindo)
5. Aisling - MIRAMONTE (3rd place vs. Campolindo)
6. Bamberger - CAMPOLINO
7. Kreason - DUBLIN
8. Alberts - MIRAMONTE

Notice that when scoring the Campolindo vs. Miramonte match up, the Dublin athletes are ignored, and the placing points are determined by the relative finish of the Campolindo and Miramonte athletes only.
