Swanback, Chudler Runners Up at Mariner; FSG, JVG Finish Third
Both recovering from knee injury, Betsy Swanback (08) and Douglas Chudler (10) appeared no worse for wear, finishing with late race surges that landed them runner up honors in their respective divisions at Saturday's Mariner Invitational in Garin Park.
Greg Garcia (11) continued his own steady improvement to move into the second spot for the frosh soph boys squad and close within four seconds of the thirteen minute barrier.
Meanwhile, Emily Black (11) made a successful return to form, leading the frosh soph girls to a third place team performance with help from a recently energized Virginia Johnson (10). Johnson's top twenty finish is just one example of the new level of enthusiasm and commitment taking hold of the Cougars as they near the post season.
Rolling to season best two-mile marks on the hilly Garin Park trails were Julena Cone (08), Marissa McVittie (08), Ian Budge (11), Greg Garcia (11), Evan Gordon (11) and Manuel Herrera (11).
