Ed Sias Invitational RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE
Steinzig Leads PR List at Ed Sias Invite Knocking 2 minutes off her 2-mile time from the previous week's practice meet, Adeline Steinzig (22) finished 2nd for the junior varsity girls' squad at Saturday's Ed Sias Invitational. The giant leap for Steinzig was one of many for the Cougars as they officially opened their 2018 competitive season. Jack Pieper (21) posted the greatest improvement over the 1-year span since the previous edition of the meet, finishing 66th in the frosh soph boys' division in 12:56, nearly 2:30 faster than his 2017 performance. Vishal Lashkari (21), Alec Driver (21) and Brandon Gentry (20) also significantly lowered their previous Ed Sias Invite times. The varsity boys' squad, benefiting from the individual victory of Edward Buckley (19), managed to stay ahead of division 3 rival Vista Del Lago to claim the runner-up podium position. The top ranked Pumas of Maria Carrillo claimed the title with an impressive 27 point performance. Most improved for the varsity boys was Dylan Cronin (20), who lowered his 2-mile best by 32 seconds. Katie Strohmeyer (21) began her sophomore season nearly 2-minutes ahead of where she started as a freshman. The persistent veteran also provided the leadership necessary for her junior varsity teammates to make significant progress: Alissa Flett (22), Emilia Silverman (22) and the aforementioned Steinzig each made big gains as the Cougar squad finished 6th in the 16-team field. The varsity girls' competition featured Paloma Hancock (20 breaking the 13-minute mark for the 1st time in her career while teammate Mia Travis (20) finished in 13:44 to break the 14-minute barrier.
