Leach Earns NCS Tri-Valley 1600m Title, Quint Vaults over 10-7, Advances to MOC

Ryan Hoffman (13) had a busy day at Saturday's North Coast Tri-Valley regional championships, anchoring both relays and running in the open 400m and 200m races. The senior managed to improve his open 400m mark from a year ago, dipping under 50 seconds for the first time and finishing 5th to advance to next weekend's Meet of Champions.

Also contributing legs to the 1600 relay squad were Parker Lothamer (15), Harrison Hughes (14) and Andy VanHeuit (13). The quartet duplicated their league meet time to finish 5th.

In the distance events, the Cougars advanced four athletes to MOC, including Brighie Leach (15), who has established herself as the top 1600m runner in the section. The sophomore standout ran patiently on the shoulders of the leaders for three laps, before surging down the homestretch for the win.

Leach came back later to finish 2nd in the 3200m, advancing to MOC with her teammates Aidan Goltra (14), who landed 2nd place in the boys' race, and Mary Orders (15) and Adam Hathaway (13), who finished 7th in the girls' race and 6th in the boys race, respectively.

In the field, Lily Quint (14) soared over 10-7 to take 3rd place in the pole vault. The mark moves her to 5th on the All-Time list and makes her a contender for the podium at MOC.

Jumping onto the record board for the first time, Laura DeCrescenzo (13) wrapped her high school track career with a discus mark of 107 feet.
