Team Effort Earns Nation-Leading Mark for Girls' DMR at Stanford Invitational With career best performances at every leg, the girls' distance medley relay squad pulled away from an impressive cast of top-tier teams in the fast heat of Friday's Stanford Invitational to set the top time in the nation, and lower the school record by a whopping 10 seconds. Toni Finnane (15), in her first crack at the 3 lap distance, held close to the Monte Vista and Redwood lead-off runners to hand over the baton in 3:40.1. The time is best ever for a Campolindo athlete over 1200m. Julie Hyatt (17) moved to 2nd place with a 61.3 split for 400m, passing the Redwood runner in the 2nd turn. Mary Orders (15) took the lead off the 1st turn of her 2-lap leg, en route to a 65 second opening lap. The veteran powered through her 2nd lap to record a 2:20.6, 2 seconds ahead of her previous best. The record book performance was closed out by a controlled sub-5 minute 1600m leg from Brighie Leach (15). As of April 4, no team in the country has run faster. The boys' DMR team also enjoyed some fine debuts and improvements, including a 3:20 opening leg from Jared Yabu (17). Kevin Buckley (15) anchored the squad with a 4:33.9 for 4 laps, lowering his 1600m split record by over 2 seconds. COMPLETE 2014 STANFORD INVITE RESULTS ARE HERE!
