Top Distance Runners Enjoy Favorable Morning Conditions at Granada Invite

Normally warm and windy in Livermore during the late spring, the weather for the Granada Distance and Sprint Festival was cloudy and cool. With dozens of top athletes from throughout Northern California participating in the event hosted by Granada High School, the conditions were conducive for fast times in the distance races.

Leading off the day, Owen Lekki (21) finished 2nd in the 800m with a new personal best of 1:57.76. The time is #8 on the Campolindo all-time list.

Also moving up the all-time rankings, Ellie Buckley (23) won the 1600m competition by negative splitting her race. After coming through the 1st 800m in 2:35, she finished with a time of 5:08.03.

Other notable performances in the 4-lap race included a 4:33.92 effort from Rhys Pullen (22) and a 1st-time sub-5:40 finish from Caroline McCool (23).

Namratha Kasalanati (22) took advantage of her final meet of the season by leaping to an improvement of 15-11 in the long jump. Also closing out the spring with a PR, Mason Fara (22) dropped his 400m mark to 50.92.
