Cougars Claim 1st-Ever Section Team Title; 5 Athletes Advance to State Meet

Propelled by its all-star hurdlers, Campolindo claimed the NCS Meet of Champions team crown for the 1st time in school history at Saturday's section finals hosted by Dublin High School.

Once again, the section-leading duo of Mari Testa (23) and Sara Tabibian (22) ascended to the top of the podium in multiple events. Following their school-record setting win in the 400 relay with teammates Kyrstin Wilson (22) and Meagan Kennedy (23), Testa secured her 1st individual NCS title in the 100 hurdles. The junior sensation then returned to the track moments later to upset the elite 100m field.

Tabibian followed up her 400 relay anchor leg with a 3rd-place finish in the 400m. Overcoming chest tightness brought on by the exceptionally low humidity, Tabibian then rallied to win the 300 hurdles. Testa was just a second behind in 3rd. In the end, the two accounted for 52 of the Cougars' 57 points.

In the triple jump, Namratha Kasalanati (22) nabbed 6th place with a career best 36-1. The mark is now 4th on the all-time record list, just behind Wilson, who finished in 7th position.

The final contribution to the team scoring came from Ellie Buckley (23), who braved another warm and windy 8-lap effort to finish 4th in the 3200m.

The boys' sprints enjoyed another improvement in the 400 relay, where the squad of Kyle Fossen (24), Mason Fara (22), Joshua Lee (23), and Garrett Nelson (23) earned a surprising step on the podium. Their 6th place finishing time of 43.23 is now the 2nd-fastest in school history.

Fara went on to etch his name at the top of the record board in the 400m final, where he pushed the section leader to his limit. Fara finished just 2 one-hundredths of a second behind the winner in a school-record time of 48.43.
