First Ever League Title Sweep Completes Perfect Season for Campolindo Harriers

The Cougars' hunt for a perfect season began nearly one year ago, after falling short of the accomplishment at the 2008 Diablo Foothill Athletic League Championships by a single point. Now, with a roster bolstered with new talent, as well as the hunger of veterans who took part in last season's bitter-sweet championship meet, the blue and red cross country machine can breath a sigh of satisfaction.

In spite of early season rankings that had the program "rebuilding" in the shadow of league rivals from Acalanes, Las Lomas and Miramonte, the Cougars successfully defended each of their five DFAL titles, and added a sixth by topping the junior varsity girls' field with a nifty twenty-four point team performance.

This marks the first time in the history of the league that a single school has swept all six division championships.

In addition, Eva Healy (11), Vinson Compestine (12), Carrie Verdon (12) and Paul Jackson (10) earned individual title honors by finishing first in their respective divisions.

Other notable performances came from Tessa Isaksson (12), Megan Arth (13), Heather Eagle (13) and Merinda Zywicz (13), who each improved their personal bests on the Hidden Valley Park two-mile course by over a minute!

While teammates Andy Van Heuit (13) and Matt Patera (12) each bettered their season marks by over two minutes, it was Rahil Jetly (13) that set the standard with a new personal course record by five minutes!
