"Little
Ed" Practice Meet RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE. Laucher Leads Boys to Draw vs Falcon Powerhouse, Girls' Vets Come out Swinging; Shipway Tops Rooks in 14:03 The first three weeks of the 2010 season concluded at Friday's Little Ed practice meet on the Hidden Valley Park two-mile course as three-quarters of the Cougar squad faced off against athletes from Alhambra and College Park high schools. Dylan Laucher (11) began his senior campaign with a sound effort that had him passing the Falcons' super star Jeff Bickert at the mile mark and then holding on to the advantage through the finish. The highly regarded College Park veteran boys showed why they are the NCS favorites by placing four in the top ten and five in the top fifteen. The Cougars held their own however, also placing four in the top ten, and seven among the first fifteen, including a fourteen place finish by sophomore Adam Hathaway (13). The girls' season was launched by a surprising quintet under fourteen minutes, including a much improved Rachel Meadows (12), who finished fourth for the defending league champions. Up at the font, state meet veterans Carrie Verdon (12) and Grace Orders (11) gapped the rest of the field by nearly a minute to finish under 12:30. Haley Shipway (14) highlighted a string of impressive debuts for the rookie girls, winning in 14:03, while teammates Diana Kassokowski (13), Megan McMillan (13), Ashley Chen (14) and Ellen Hann (13) swept the next four places.
