Girls Finish 2nd to Inspired Cathedral Catholic Squad; Boys End Season 15th

For the 5th consecutive season, the Campolindo varsity girls ascended the podium at the California state cross country championships to complete their 2023 season. Shea Volkmer (24) continued as the squad's top performer, finishing 3rd overall in a personal record of 17:41 for the Woodward Park 5k course. The time is now 3rd best in school history.

Daisy Penney (24) contributed her very best career performance to finish 2nd for her team and 17th overall, crossing the line in 18:31. Meanwhile, freshman Amalia Contreras (27) assumed the #3 scoring position for the Cougars for the 1st time, helping the squad stay in contention.

In the end, the girls' team finished just 9 points behind Cathedral Catholic of the San Diego Section to earn runner-up status in Division 3.

The boys had a tough time against the fastest field in Division 3 history. Bright spots included Cale Anderson's (24) 1st time finishing as the squad's #1 scorer in a career best for 5k. The senior's 15:58 clocking was good enough for 37th place and moves him to 21st on the all-time school record list.

Clark Gregory (27) continued his post-season prowess to finish 82nd in the race as the Cougars' #2 scorer. With just 3 finishers among the top 100, Campolindo fell to 15th in the team standings.
