Mid-Season Mania 3200m Invitational RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE Volkmer Sets 10:29.10 Stadium Record at Annual Mid-Season 3200m Invitational The magic of Bob Wilson Stadium was on display at Wednesday evening's Mid-Season Mania 3200m Invitational as 23 Cougar harriers raced to career best performance for the 8-lap tour around the oval. Topping the girls' field was Shea Volkmer (24), who turned in a time for the ages, eclipsing the 10:30 mark to take down the previous stadium record set by Acalanes' Olivia Williams in 2022. Volkmer's 10:29.10 clocking is the 4th fastest ever run by a Campolindo athlete, just behind Footlocker National Finalist Toni Finnane (15), who achieved her 10:26.61 mark at the 2015 California state track & field championships. All told, it was a banner day for the Cougars, with Kate Kabenina (23) joining Volkmer in the sub-11 club and 6 more girls breaking 12 minutes, including Sloan Pullen (24) who equalled her 11:20 finish of a year ago. Most improved over their 2022 efforts were Helen Shephard (24) and Meeran Gill (24), with the former lowering her best by a healthy 67 seconds. For the 1st time in the history of the event, a pair of freshmen earned top honors for the squad as Clark Gregory (27) and Drew Shogan (27) were the only members of their team to crack the 10-minute barrier. However, the boys once again enjoyed a tight pack margin with 7 athletes clustered within 13 seconds of each other, including Siddharth Iyer (24), who produced a career best 10:01.05. Most improved by a considerable margin was Nathan Littell (26). The sophomore veteran lowered his previous 3200m best by 1 minute and 12 seconds to finish in 12:20.73.
