Practice Meet RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE Seniors Lead Girls' Squad to Dominating Performance at Friday's Practice Meet The senior trio of Shea Volkmer (24), Kate Kabenina (24), and Daisy Penney (24), opened their final high school cross country season in impressive fashion as they swept the top 3 finishing places in practice meet competition against Alhambra and College Park. While Volkmer and Penney were just off their personal bests on the Hidden Valley Park 2-mile course, Kabenina's finish time of 12:43 moved her to 11 on the all-time school record list. Top freshman finisher, Kiona McCasland (27), was 4th overall in 13:26. Here time is among the 50 best on the course by a Campolindo athlete. The most improved performances came from Keira De Los Santos (27) and Angele Tseng (27). De Los Santos crushed her previous 2-mile best by a whopping 87 seconds! The girls' sub-65 minute team time is 2nd only to last year's varsity girls' performance at the Ed Sias Invitational. Maxson Cook (25) was the boys' top gun, finishing 3rd overall and dropping his course PR by 2 seconds. Remarkably, 15 of the 16 boys who had run the course previously managed to improve their times. Foremost among them was Carter Cook (27), who shaved 1 minute and 19 seconds from the time he posted at the summer trial in July. Fellow freshman Matthew Beardsley (27) also improved by over a minute from his summer best, finishing in 14:38. The number 1 newcomer for the boys was Drew Shogan (27), who finished 5th overall and 2nd for the Cougars in 11:24.
