Seniors Rule Orienteering Championship

Veteran savvy won the day the annual Orienteering Championships hosted at Hidden Valley Park on Saturday, October 12. With athletes navigating through and around the park in search of 12 separate check points, the chaotic scramble to choose the shortest rout proved a challenge for the less-experienced members of the squad.

Senior Siddharth Iyer (25) made short work of what was intended to be a long course, breezing to victory in under 45 minutes. His nearest challenger was 2nd-year veteran Nolan Knightly (27).

Helen Shephard (25) was equally impressive in her dominance, showing cartographic skill far superior to the rest of the field.

The youngsters with the most success were Zoe Freese (28), one of the few to study in advance of the competition, and Isaac Narido (28), who used an ever tightening spiral technique to out perform his rookie challengers.
