Center Meet #2 RESULTS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE Boys Remain Perfect; Varsity Girls Narrow Gap on Northgate at Final Center Meet With several of the top athletes on the boys' side running "down" in the non-varsity races, the Cougars enjoyed wide margins of victory at the final league center meet of 2025. Rafael Van Delft (29) kicked things off with the fastest time ever run by a Campolindo freshman on the 2-mile course to lead the frosh soph boys to a commanding victory. The ever-improving Jonah Char (28) assumed the 7th scoring position for the squad, finishing in 9th place. Only the Las Lomas 1st and 2nd scorers managed to break up what otherwise would have been a perfect score over the entire league. The junior varsity boys were powered by the return of Taejin Chung (26) who missed the 1st center meet due to injury, but provided the lowest stick in his comeback. Peter Shephard (27) finished 2nd with a new PR by 27 seconds as the Cougars landed all 5 of their scorers among the top 6. Matthew Beardsley (27) was most improved for the squad, bettering his previous mark on the course by 93 seconds. While the varsity boys were without some of their "regulars," they still looked every bit the powerhouse as Cody De La Cruz (26), Chase Nickens (28), and Samuel Hearn (27) overtook a fading Logan Letulle of Miramonte in the final stretch to deal the league an insurmountable 1-2-3 finishing hand. Taiyo Chiba (27), Clark Gregory (27), and Drew Shogan (27) crossed the line in 6th, 7th, and 9th, respectively, to help their team earn another sub-20 point performance. The squad's 78:43 team time is a new school record and 8th best in course history. Both the varsity and junior varsity boys conclude their DAL regular seasons undefeated while the frosh soph boys are 11-1, tied with Las Lomas. The frosh soph girls continued to hold their league rivals at bay with a solid team effort that included the season debut of Mykenzie Fung (28), who finished 3rd overall. Katherine Vonderbrink (28) turned in a career best 14:24 for 2 miles to finish 6th. The frosh soph girls head into the championships as the favorites with a perfect record. In the junior varsity girls' race, Kaitlyn Kinsey (27) showed signs of returning to form with a 2nd-place finish in a course PR of 13:15. The time is now 16th on the course record list. Keira De Los Santos (27) was the next most improved, subtracting 41 seconds from her previous best. The penultimate contest of the unseasonably warm afternoon saw the varsity girls put up a valiant effort against their newly minted nemeses. Amalia Contreras (28) and Jillian Randolph (28) once again battled at the front, but this time around, they had outstanding support from Sophie Lechner (27), who turned in a sensational 2-minute and 7-second improvement over her previous 3-mile best. Finishing in 18:55, Lechner is now 1 of only 21 Campolindo competitors to break the 19-minute barrier on the course. In addition to Lechner's rise, the varsity girls also benefited from a career best from Claire Andrzejek (26), who finished 10th overall in her 1st cross country race of the season. In spite of these outstanding efforts, the Broncos managed a 1-point victory by virtue of a 1-2 finish and placing their 5th scorer ahead of the Cougar's #5. The varsity girls finish the regular season with a 10-2 record and sit in 2nd place in the league standings behind Northgate.
