3 Top-Ten Finishe Propels Volkmer to Win while 1st-Timer Surprises Boys Veterans
Over 80 athletes participated in Saturday's event testing, measuring their speed, power, agility, and endurance in 4 separate disciplines. Shea Volkmer (24) earned top honors for the girls competition with top-ten finishes in the 300m sprint, 1200m run, and long jump. Her 3:47.7 clocking in the 1200m race was 7-seconds ahead of 2nd place.
The overall top performer for the boys was newcomer Brendan Comerford (23), who sprinted to 3rd place in the 300m race before posting the best shot put of the day.
Da-Yue Ng-Wu (24) and Alex Lodewick (23) tied for 1st place in the veteran boys' division while Anya Houston (26) scored a 1-point victory in the rookie girls' competition.
